The district also operated Oaklane School from 1957 until 1977.Northbrook is home to the Kohl Children's Museum. A short walk from Northbrook Court is the Village Square, home to Nordstrom Rack, Saks Off Fifth, the Container Store, Trader Joe's, and Cost Plus World Market. A developer had the option to purchase 300 acres of farmland adjacent to the village, but residents objected. The Northbrook Historical Society began renovating the historic church building in 2016. The building opened as the Hope Union Heritage Center on July 16, 2017.In the past year, the average rent for living spaces in Northbrook was $2,192.
